Buchanhaven Harbour, Peterhead
Located on the extreme north-east tip of Scotland, Peterhead is the largest fishing port in the UK. Just a short distance north from the main harbour lies the fishing community of Buchanhaven where you’ll find these lobster boats tied up in the small harbour.
This is a nice scene of the boats in Buchanhaven Harbour, with the Buchan coastline and Rattray Head Lighthouse in the distance, which I recently painted based on my own photograph. It’s a scene I pass almost every day when walking my dog. My Dad’s side of the family were fishermen in the neighbouring port of Fraserburgh which probably explains why I’m drawn to scenes like this. What inspires you?
The original painting (now sold) was approximately 9” x 6” on good quality watercolour paper using Winsor & Newton Professional Quality watercolours.
