This is St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay, quite a pleasing composition, in pen and watercolour pencil. I think I’ll do a full watercolour painting based on this one. Apologies for the scribbles of my signature – they were on the page before I did the drawing – waste not etc.

This is Jimmy Perez’s cottage, from the TV series ‘Shetland’. The proportions aren’t quite right, but I enjoyed doing this one.

So, these are the sort of sketches you’ll find in my sketchbook, often several versions of a sketch if I’m looking for a composition to make into a full watercolour.
