I really like this painting. I think it embodies the essential characteristics of Aberdeen City and Shire for the past 50 years or so. The oil industry has had a huge impact on Aberdeen. It produces billions of pounds of revenue each year and employs tens of thousands on people, even during the hard times. And when the oil price is high Aberdeen is a very wealthy city.

Unsurprisingly, Aberdeen’s harbour caters for a lot of oil & gas industry traffic, and that’s what this painting depicts.
