The Northern Arts Club, Aberdeen

The Northern Arts Club is Aberdeen’s oldest independent arts club, run by members for members and the general public, from novice to seasoned artist.

The Club was established over 100 years ago and is located at 8 Bon Accord Square in the City centre, in a building designed by Archibald Simpson.

During its early years, the Club was a hub for different social gatherings; members enjoyed billiards and music evenings, as well as performing their own plays. Most importantly, the club was used as a social venue where creative people could meet to draw and paint together – a tradition that is carried on to this day.

In addition to a variety of weekly art sessions, the Club hosts a series of art classes and workshops throughout the year. The facilities also include several studios, which provide creative spaces for a wide range of professional artists based in the North East of Scotland. Check out their website.
