This is a short introduction to my latest project, still a work-in-progress.
It’s going to be two fairly large (16.5” x 11.0”) pen & watercolour paintings of Eilean Donan Castle, which is on the west coast of Scotland in the United Kingdom.
One is the view from the southeast. I’ve done the pen line drawing and also added stippling with the pen to create the light & dark tones. This is the first time I’ve tried stippling, I found it a long & tedious process but I do like the outcome. Here the watercolour will play a supporting role to the pen.
The other painting is the view of the castle from the north. This one will be done in my usual way of working, with the outline in pen and the colour + tone provided by the watercolour.
Hopefully I’ll have both paintings completed within the next few weeks.
