Village Phonebox

This is my pen and watercolour painting of a scene in All Stretton Village, which is located in the Shropshire Hills to the west of Birmingham, England, near the Welsh border.

The village boasts a traditional English pub, a lively village hall (famous for its annual pantomime) and this lovely old phone box and post box, which are located on Castle Hill, close to the junction with Shrewsbury Road.

Once a common sight in communities across the United Kingdom, I hope that my painting of the old phone box and post box evokes happy memories of a simpler way of life that’s fast disappearing since the advent of email and the mobile phone.

The painting is based on an original photograph by Andrew Poynton from the Pixabay website.
